At The Hyde Counselling Practice our therapists are all highly trained certified Practitioners in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a psychological treatment for emotional problems which is based on the principle that how we feel emotionally is greatly influenced by our thoughts.
Negative situations act as triggers for negative thoughts or errors in thinking, and when changes are made in thinking (automatic thoughts, assumptions and core beliefs), changes in emotions and behaviour will follow. These negative thoughts and behaviours often undermine our self-confidence and make us feel depressed or anxious.
A vicious circle example of how negative thinking affects our mood, our physical well being and our behaviour.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy's elegantly simple model has proven to be the most powerful and effective type of psychological treatment in research studies conducted over the past several decades. The course of treatment is typically brief, and clients experience relatively rapid relief and long-term progress.
At The Hyde Counselling Practice therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length and usually take place weekly or by arrangement between client and therapist.
