Is there a problem?
Too many couples miss the opportunity to resolve their problems until they feel it is too late. By the time they have decided to seek help years of resentment has built up between them and problems are sometimes too painful to face due to fear of resentment and lack of hope of any chance of change.
If you are experiencing any of the following in your relationship it is a good time to consider counselling:
| » |
 |
Is it impossible to talk without arguing? |
| » |
 |
Are there never any positive resolutions to your problems? |
| » |
 |
After you've talked, do you feel frustrated and confused? |
| » |
 |
Life feels like a constant battle and you have lost the closeness you once shared? |
| » |
 |
Do old problems keep getting dragged up? |
| » |
 |
Are work pressures, family problems, life changes having a negative impact on your relationship? |
| » |
 |
Is your sex life suffering? |
| » |
 |
Are you unhappy? |
In an ideal world it would be better if you were to attend counselling together but not essential. As the old adage goes ‘two half's make a whole' but often if one half of the couple is willing to attend their partner may choose to come along too. If your partner refuses to attend there are still many changes you can make that will help in your relationship and help you to move forward in your life. Sometimes partners join the counselling at a later date.
At the Hyde Counselling Practice therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly or by arrangement between client and therapist.
